Can we still use the phrase, "Turning the page"?

I recently went into a computer store or perhaps the better term would be a computer  mini mall.  I was amazed at the new tech  gadgets they have for the computers.  Now I know I'm not exactly a computer whiz but it seems that the newest innovations only last about a month ( let me check my calender it might be up to a week now)  until something new pops up.

I guess since I'm a writer the one new item that really caught my eye was the "book".   All housed in one small hand held screen made of glass and metal was volumes and volumes of down loaded books.  Any book every published could be added to this micro mini library in a matter of minutes.

I realized just how it must have felt for the first ancient to try to sell his dad on the prospect of writing on cloth rather than stone tablets.  "Really Dad it's the future".  "Don't be rediculous nothing will ever replace the convienence of  stone"!

All the same I will miss the smell of the paper books, feeling the pages turn under my finger tips.  I guess eventually they will figure out how to put the information directly into our brains via micro chips.  Imagine trying to sell the teacher on the idea that you forgot your homework assignment!

Oh well if you will excuse me I am going to get a good old book, a nice glass of wine and sit by the fire to read.

That is unless my son finally comes over to teach me how to program the VCR!
